Your First Visit

First Presbyterian gathers for worship each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Sunday School Classes for children, youth and adults meet at 9:45 with Fellowship time at 10:30.

Parking
Handicapped parking is available in the circular driveway in front of the church. We have permission to park in the Exchange Bank parking lot located across the street on the other corner of Highway 1S and Bienville.

Nursery
We welcome and encourage all ages to be in worship with us. However, if your child needs some quiet place to be we have a newly refurbished “cry room” located in the back of the sanctuary off the Narthex.

The Service of Worship
Before the service, you are encouraged to participate in our Ministry of Friendship by signing the blue pad which is located at the end of the row. Visitors are asked to put a complete address, phone number, and, if available, an e-mail address.
During the service, you are encouraged to follow the service as indicated in the bulletin. Hymns to be sung are found in the Presbyterian Hymnal in the rack in front of your seat. Usually we stand for the singing of hymns, and at other times in the service as indicated by the worship leader.
There are several times that the congregation responds during the service.
  • After the Silent Prayer of Confession the congregation sings the Kyrie Eleison which is found on page 572 of the Hymnal.
  • After the Assurance of Pardon, the congregation stands as able and sings the Gloria Patri, which is found on page 579 of the Hymnal.
  • After the Pardon Response, the pastor will invite us to “Share the Peace of Christ” with those around us.
  • After the reading of scripture, the reader will say: “The Word of the Lord,” to which the congregation responds: “THANKS BE TO GOD.”
  • After the Offering, the congregation stands and sings the Doxology, which is found on page 592 of the Hymnal.

Church Membership
We receive members by baptism and affirmation of faith, by transfer of your church letter from another church, or by reaffirmation of faith. Our Pastor, Kathy would welcome a chance to talk to you about church membership. Speak to her on Sunday, or call the church during the week at 318 352-3016.
