It would also be helpful if we knew the ailment or issue we’re praying for. Those folks who are on the list will be (unless we’re notified) removed from the list after 60 days.

Say yes to God

“Many think of self-denial as giving up something during the Lenten season. Others have said that it is to be dead to self, or even to hate self. I disagree with these opinions. When Jesus referred to self-denial (Mark 8:34), he was not talking about denying ourselves some luxury item or denying the reality of self or the needs of self. Rather, he was focusing on the importance of renouncing self as the center of our life and actions.

“In other words, self-denial is the decision of each of his followers to give over to God his body, career, money and time. A true disciple is willing to shift the spiritual center of gravity in his life. Self-denial is the sustained willingness to say no to oneself in order to say yes to God.”
—Bill Hull

"Being a good steward and a lover of good coffee co-exist wonderfully when you drink a cup of Equal Exchange."
- Pastor Paul Lang, Peace Presbyterian Church, Winterville, NC

The Presbyterian Coffee Project is an innovative way to reach out to small-scale farmers in the developing world while enjoying fellowship and an excellent cup of coffee. As Christians we can address a consumer dilemma by buying coffee that is fairly traded. Presbyterian congregations that participate are supporting practices which help farmers in Latin America, Africa and Asia earn a fairer share of income, obtain access to credit and technical support, and gain a trading partner they can trust, a fair trade organization called Equal Exchange.

Betty and Jim Briggs and Ron Muder will be available in Dugdale Hall during Fellowship Time with an assortment of coffee and tea. This month’s selections are:

Organic Breakfast Blend                12 oz.              9.75

Organic Mind Body & Soul           12 oz.              9.75

Organic Decaf                                  12 oz.             11.25

Organic Green Tea                                                  4.50

Description: Description: Journey to the Cross Header

Dear Friends,

The season of the church year we call Lent consists of the six weeks (40 days) prior to Easter. I invite you during this season to listen deeply to Jesus’ word for you, to engage in Holy Listening. This Lenten season we’ll be listening for Jesus’ words as we worship together and I pray that each day you’ll be listening as you read scripture and pray to rediscover God’s extravagant love for all creation – and that includes you.

The online devotional d365 provides a wonderful resource for daily prayer and Scripture. You are invited on this journey, the Journey to the Cross.
